are they laughing at or with me ~ why can't we just say what we mean

I realized this week that I haven’t shared any pictures from my street photography class and I only have one more class left! Here are a few scanned in that are focused on my final assignment. I’ve learned A LOT {as I have never taken a real photo class before}. Some days were challenging and a challenge to myself was to shoot all the way with film. As I’ve said before I do prefer film but for a 10 week course of developing weekly, it can get costly. I feel that I’ve gained a new eye in my work; I feel and see it when I look around the streets. What do you think of these shots? More to come soon…

Have a great weekend ~ Happy Friday!

I don't care about my guilty pleasure for you

My guilty pleasure always will be cameras; I already own too many. A current guilty pleasure is Cobra Starship, I could put them on loop and never get bored. Love them. Last night I went to the Ford Fiesta party {with my new snapshot digital in hand} and Cobra Starship was the guest performer! With a vodka open bar and an awesome DJ - Steven Rojas - to start and end the night. Should've ended the night at Avenue but I missed that party...

All the pics above were taken with my new camera... not sure if I'm feelin them... need to get use to the new settings etc... What do you think?

live today, worry tomorrow ~ mbw

Here are a few shots that I took at the Mr. BrainWash exhibit {that I stumbled across} in the Meatpacking District {nyc} a couple weeks ago. Enjoy!

{and a random polaroid of an advertisement for a different art exhibit}

oh and just to note: the artist encouraged all to take as many pictures of his artwork as we wanted and was giving out free poster prints of some. The originals; however, were pricey but rightfully so!

my ass is awesome so smile when you kiss it

How did this much time go by without me posting at least something… rather than put it off any longer – here are a few random snapshots of things going on lately. Been busy and everything feels non-stop. I hope after this {relaxing} holiday weekend that everything will slow down a bit and I can get back to regular posting! This weekend I plan to sleep in a lot, take some pictures, get a little sun and drink a lot of wine. What do you have planned?

Happy {almost Friday} Thursday!!

been there - done that - messed around

Last night the roomie and I went to Zac Posen’s {for Target} Shop Around the Clock party! It was surprisingly so.much.fun. We got to see The Like perform – who were awesome - and we got to shop the collection more than a week before it hits stores. I'm such a sucker for Target/Designer collaborations. It was a little annoying as some girls were practically hoarding a few items and therefore not leaving many sizes to choose from… but either way I lucked out with three pieces. Cannot wait to show them off! This is when I love NYC the most – all the wonderful things we get to do {especially after midnight}.

Hope you all have an awesome weekend!

everything would be nonsense

I finally got a roll from my Diana Camera developed but most of them came out blurry – not the dreamlike-hazy blur but really, really blurry (not even really a picture, it seems). Has anyone used a Diana Cam – any advice? Here are two snapshots that did come out. One is a friend from this past summer on the rooftop lighting his cigar and the other is a random building off Madison Avenue that I just adore – not sure why but every time I see this building it makes me smile. Do you have a place like that?

Also yesterday my Dad came for a quick visit and I took him to one of my favorite spots in Central Park and it seemed fitting to post for today since Alice in Wonderland finally hits the theaters! The anticipation has been exciting… can’t wait to see it but now - to rush to see it with the crowds or wait for a calmer day?

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live

Happy fuzzy feeling thoughts for the weekend and finally getting back to regular postings. A blogger friend, Stephanie over at PinkAppleCore had a great idea for the month of February... I am making it my next photo challenge. Sneaky, sneaky ;-) I’ve needed the inspiration lately. So… for each day in February I will post a photo matching to a letter of the alphabet – something that represents that letter or something that starts with that letter… it will be fun to see what comes from it. They will be photos that I may have already taken or something new that I stumble across over the next month. Also I just booked a trip to Aruba – last minute – and I leave on Thursday the 4th! I cannot wait. It is way too cold in NYC for me right now. I need a little warmth in my soul.
I just developed these pictures below from an old roll that I had left over from the summer using red scale film and one from regular color - they made me think about the warm sunny days that I miss so much right now and remembering back to this day - there was a guy in the park telling me that he was a photographer and that my photos would never come out if I was shooting so direct into the sun - he was even chuckling at me and my 'model' a bit... I think they came out ok though...
what do you think?

~ Have a beautiful weekend all my fellow bloggers ~

"Orange"-you all about me?

Being obsessed with my new orange nailpolish - while drinking a Newcastle I was inspired and added a layer of gold glitter. Named it "Orange-you all about me" a la O.P.I. and I will be wearing it all weekend. Just a little fun with some fabulous fall colors!

~ Hope everyone has an amazing weekend ~

Tuesday Tea Party ~ without realizing who you are, happiness cannot come to you

One of my favorite places in NYC is the Met (referring to the art museum). And it always makes me happy when I walk around in that huge building staring at all the amazing art. Here are some pics that I randomly took last year of a few of my favorite things from inside.

Tuesday Tea Party ~ your intuition is your best friend

This past weekend I took snapshots of a co-worker for her Family portraits, saw New York, I Love You and started my new blog!
As for the pictures - it was different working with the whole family and having the little ones all over the place. Definitely something that I need to work on is being able to give direction. It was harder to follow my feeling to get a great shot. However, the individual shots still came out great I think... here's one of her little girl, Sophia.

On to the movie... it was more independent and depressing than I thought it would be but it was still good and so true to NYC. Sometimes NY is depressing and has a gritty feel and you are almost always independent from anyone and anything else here yet life is still pretty great and comical most of the time.
And for my new blog... it stemmed from me just wanting a new challenge and something new to focus on and write about – it will be about cooking and drinking and places to eat! Check out One Bite to Bliss and any feedback is welcome! I’m just getting a feel for it now. It really is all about your intuition and just going for it.

Here are some snapshots I took of us getting ready before the photographer got there. Hope you like!

I've got no reason to doubt you baby

Hope you enjoy my music pick of the week!

Last Saturday I went to see O.A.R. at Madison Square Garden and I must say they totally rocked. I would see them 10 more times live if I could. Here a couple snapshots from the night ~ they gave us confetti!

Friday is for Fireworks

I am just getting around to posting my July 4th photos. I spent the day in Jersey and watched the amazing display of fireworks over the Hudson. It definitely was not to be missed! Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from the night. And what better way to celebrate a Friday than with pretty firework thoughts.

Hope your weekend is filled with sparks!
