take me there :: junior's

What do you do when someone comes to visit nyc and they haven't been here since 1953 {or another year in the 50's… I can't remember exactly, those are the details that I'm not so good at}? take them to junior's in times square… well really just take them anywhere because new york city is like a whole new world since then. and that's just what I did when my granddaddy came to visit. who wouldn't want a piece of classic ny cheesecake in ny? but then Granddaddy just ordered the pineapple coconut cake… that's ok though, it was just a yummy to me! And I can never pass up a good sundae {with a guinness on the side}.

If you have visitors in town, take them and if you've never been, take my advice… just go. It's fun to be cheesy like a tourist. trust me.

{and if you are the tourist, live it up! I'm jealous.}

most people just exist."

winter pirate

Everytime I put this hat on, I can't help but feel like a pirate. Then I added my new skull and crossbone gloves that I bought at the LA County Fair and I'm convinced I'm a little bit like a winter pirate… but then I went to brunch. Vanilla Bourbon French Toast from Southern Hospitality with a side of cheesy grits. Yes, please. Go there if you can. It is so yummy-delish. Oh and of course there were unlimited mimosas... ordered in rounds of two, yes and thank you.

Weekends don’t count unless you spend them
doing something completely pointless.

to the bridge we go

Brooklyn Bridge, NYC
May 2012

Of all the years I've lived in New York, I have never walked across the BK bridge. So one of the first things I decided to do when I got back from Africa, was just that. The walk over was much more simple than I expected but definitely a must see for anyone visiting the City. When in Brooklyn, eat at Grimaldi's. Walking the BK bridge and Grimaldi's kind of go together like peanut butter and jelly. It's just what you do. Typically people say there is always a line for their famous pizza; somehow, on this day we lucked out because we didn't even wait a minute. And sure it was a good experience but I won't go again {read: overhyped in my opinion} and if I would've waited in line for it, I would not have been satisfied in the least. Still though, recommend it as a classic NYC thing to do.
Definitely try the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory for dessert, it's just around the corner!
Worth the wait.
And take the East River Ferry back to Manhattan instead of walking over again - you get to see the underside of the bridge to complete the whole experience!

:: my thoughts on brooklyn ::

{carrie} "new york magazine says brooklyn is the new manhattan."

{miranda} "yes, but whoever wrote that lives in brooklyn."

wine and zen time

Easy Night Out :: Dinner at Franchia, Vegan CafĂ© {so delish and yes, even that chocolate pudding is vegan}. Then walking around the Bryant Park Holiday Market. The feeling of the Holiday spirit is already in the air! Peppermint Mochas, Nutella Crepes and Fresh Kettle Corn, oh my! Sometimes all you need is a catch up dinner with a bottle of wine and some great giggling moments with a friend that you don’t get to see enough.

And one thing I will admit to liking about the change of weather, is that it’s time to bring out the boots! Current transition weather wearing boots :: Rachel by Rachel Roy. omgosh, so adore her shoes. My wardrobe contains a lot of Rachel Roy stuff now that I think about it.

HAPPY TUESDAY!
