Tuesday Tea Party ~ wisdom becomes knowledge when it is personal experience

Lately I’ve started thinking about how my style of photography has changed over the years and I’m trying to figure out who I am growing into as a photographer. I was looking through some old photos last night and came across these couple that I took in college of my dear friend, Jill. I cannot believe how young we were here – 20 I believe and we thought we were very Fiona Apple influenced at the time. I did the makeup as well and it seemed so out there for us! Got to love looking back!

"Heaven help me for the way I am
Save me from these evil deeds
Before I get them done
I know tomorrow brings
The consequence at hand
But I keep livin' this day
Like the next will never come"
~ Fiona Apple, criminal

Tuesday Tea Party ~ without realizing who you are, happiness cannot come to you

One of my favorite places in NYC is the Met (referring to the art museum). And it always makes me happy when I walk around in that huge building staring at all the amazing art. Here are some pics that I randomly took last year of a few of my favorite things from inside.

Tuesday Tea Party ~ your intuition is your best friend

This past weekend I took snapshots of a co-worker for her Family portraits, saw New York, I Love You and started my new blog!
As for the pictures - it was different working with the whole family and having the little ones all over the place. Definitely something that I need to work on is being able to give direction. It was harder to follow my feeling to get a great shot. However, the individual shots still came out great I think... here's one of her little girl, Sophia.

On to the movie... it was more independent and depressing than I thought it would be but it was still good and so true to NYC. Sometimes NY is depressing and has a gritty feel and you are almost always independent from anyone and anything else here yet life is still pretty great and comical most of the time.
And for my new blog... it stemmed from me just wanting a new challenge and something new to focus on and write about – it will be about cooking and drinking and places to eat! Check out One Bite to Bliss and any feedback is welcome! I’m just getting a feel for it now. It really is all about your intuition and just going for it.

Tuesday Tea Party ~ life is a flow of love; your participation is requested

My tea quote could not have been more fitting for this past weekend. All the recent events finally came to an end in Miami - at the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and I couldn't be more happy to be have been a part of it. My two friends are an amazing and inspiring couple. There was a videographer at the wedding and they put out the teaser video already. He was great and so easy to have around; rarely noticed there was even a camera capturing it all (which is a good thing!)... they were married on the Saturday, October 17th - The Sweetest Day. I hope you enjoy the quick video as much as I do! Many kudos to Guillermo!! Can't wait to see the full version. Lots of Love.

"This was love at first sight, love everlasting: a feeling unknown, unhoped for, unexpected - in so far as it could be a matter of conscious awareness; it took entire possession of him, and he understood, with joyous amazement, that this was for life."

Tuesday Tea Party ~ your greatness is not what you have, it's what you give

Today I decided to copy a fellow blogger over at Sole Matters and make a list of a few things that I believe in 100%. I feel like I need to remember this kind of list this week. So here goes...

hot tea
scents
glitter
my Mom's potato soup
my Mom's grilled cheese
my Granddad's jokes
music
kisses
summertime
traveling
cheese & wine
the color pink
fresh flowers
pictures & keepsakes
a really good book
laughing until you cry
lyrics
bubble bath
that smiling is contagious
naps
hammocks
a Ritz-Carlton bed
Water Island
fireworks
karma
the golden rule
puppies (I call them puppies no matter the age of the dog)
old journals
sailboats
handwritten letters
sleep

What do you believe in? And really, I mean 100% not just 80% or even 95%... think about it...

Tuesday Tea Party ~ Life is a chance. Love is infinity. Grace is reality.

When I read the last line printed on my tea bag today - I couldn't picture what it meant as "Grace is reality." So I looked up the definition on line and the free online dictionary states...
Grace - seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form or proportion.
Grace - A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
Then I started thinking... when was the last time I met someone who was full of grace? Well, I didn't actually meet him but Alexander Wang came to mind. I saw him and watched him interact with people at Fashion Night Out in Bergdorf's and he was so pleasant and humble and the kind of person you felt that you just had to be around even when he had a crowd of people surrounding him to take pictures and just to shake his hand.

Going back to "Grace is reality" makes me realize that someone may not only be graceful (i.e. the first thing that came to mind was a ballerina) in their movements or interactions but that one can have a graceful soul as well, and that is reality. Who is the person that is most full of grace in your life?

Tuesday Tea Party ~ keep up

Everything right now is overwhelming, I sit, to relax, in my kitchen and have a cup of tea and the tea bag reads, "keep up". Go figure.

Tuesday Tea Party ~ every heartbeat creates a miracle

I love hot tea and drink it almost everyday but today I woke up and the thought of coffee would not escape my mind. So today I am having a cup of coffee and it is oh so good. This week from my yogi tea, the statement above had me thinking…. Last night I was walking home from a photo shoot and decided to continue taking a few more pictures. I think we forget how calming NYC can be right before night completely takes over. And it made me think how everything in the city starts with a heartbeat. One of the reasons I used to love walking through the city at night was to pass through Times Square – even in all the chaos and craziness that it is. The energy that exists in Times Square seems to be tireless and I love being a part of that; however, last night when walking up Broadway I didn’t even feel an ounce of energy. Any readers in NYC feel the same? Maybe its all the recent changes with less car traffic and the more relaxed vibe of being able to just sit there in the middle of 45th & Broadway. Who knows really but I think it has lost some appeal for me… or maybe this means I’m officially a true New Yorker?
