attempting to find one's self...

“…is like looking for a pair of glasses you’re already wearing”…wrote Taylor Plimpton {inspired my blog title today}… currently reading his Notes from the Night and so far it is great. He really gets the feel of a night out in NYC; the way we start the night, why and how, and how we feel throughout the night. The people you meet, the friends you make, the drinking, the lush in everyone coming out. Highly recommended read. And onto other things… my 30 for 30 challenge… did I fail to mention I’m not really good at challenges?

Things I’ve learned so far:

I don’t like thinking about what to wear and I’ve found it harder only having a few items to choose from rather than grabbing whatever I want from my closet. I like wearing what strikes my mood at that moment {and not to mention the bonus of having a job where I don’t have to wear a suit or the standard office attire} and throwing on whatever else works with it. Also I’m learning that I must dress by picking a piece and then dress around that because wearing the basics and trying to dress it up or make it appropriate has just been boring for me. Maybe I’m just thinking too much about it? I thought it would make me want to be more creative. I was wrong. I just want to throw something on and go. Maybe through this next week, I’ll get more creative? We will see.
Lastly, I missed a couple days of pictures because I didn’t realize it would be so hard to want to photograph myself but it has been. I definitely prefer being on the other side of the camera. To all of you aspiring fashion bloggers and the ones who are good at it, I respect what you do and the creativity that you put into it to stand out! It’s been enough of a challenge just to want to take pictures of myself everyday! But I guess 5 outta 7 ain’t bad. What do you guys think?

And now I can already say Happy Wednesday! I love short work weeks!

Very cute looks, I always have such a hard time putting an outfit together, I dunno why. This only happened after moving to LA, i feel more pressure out here to be put together than I did when I was living in Canada.

I'm really impressed that you're trying your hand at 30 for 30. I find it so daunting - I mean, what if I wake up and I don't WANT to wear one of those things...I have to anyway?? Um, yeah, not gonna fly. I started dressing myself at the tender age of 2.5 and I've never looked back.

Just realized that this is not a very encouraging comment, sorry! Ok, so here's where it gets better: I think this will probably get easier for you. Also you've put some really cute outfits together so far, so when you're feeling stuck, maybe try going back and looking at what you've already worn and how. Maybe it will give you an idea of what you liked and what else you could do.

I'm always looking for new books to read and I like the quote you used as a title (you often have some really great quotes!), i'm adding this to my book bucket list.
