Tatiana ~ The Fairy Queen

I am finally getting around to posting these pics of my friend's cousin, Tatiana. We walked around the park taking some pictures here and there and then had ice cream and played on the swings after. She's so adorable!

when the sun hits your eyes through your window

Last night I found myself watching Catch & Release on TV. The last time I saw it was in the theater and I forgot what a great movie it is and the soundtrack is amazing. So here's a song that stuck out the most throughout the movie for me ~ hope you all enjoy! I needed a song like this for the week that it has already been.

Here's the rest of the soundtrack:
Foo Fighters ~ Razor
The Lemonheads ~ My Drug Buddy
Blinker the Star ~ A Nest for Two
The Magic Numbers ~ Morning Eleven
Gary Jules ~ Pills
Steve Durand ~ Electrified and Ripe
New Radiant Storm King ~ The Winding Staircase
Audible ~ Sky Signal
Peter Maclaggan ~ Leaving the Ground
Gomez ~ These 3 Sins
alaska! ~ Resistance
Paul Westerberg ~ Let the Bad Times Roll
The Swallows ~ Turning Blue
Andrew Rodriguez ~ What I Done
Death Cab For Cutie ~ Soul Meets Body

Also I wanted to bring up that Kevin Smith's character in the movie is a quote finder for the tea boxes - oh so fitting for the little things I love. So it made me pull out my current tea box from Celestial Seasonings...
currently drinking: Moroccan Pomegranate Red

My First Tag ~ all about me

I was tagged by PinkAppleCore!!

What is your current obsession?
Rings – I’ve started wearing a lot of rings lately kind of like I used to in High School.

What is your horoscope and do you relate?
I’m Sagittarius and for the most part I totally relate; actually pretty much to my core. I’m usually up for the last minute anything and I’m very adaptable to my surroundings. I love travelling, most anything adventurous and I usually see the brighter side of life. We all create our own story so at least it should be a good one. Although I can be a little too honest – I try to bite my tongue before feelings get hurt (though they do and I really don’t mean it) and I tend to gloss over problems when they do come up because I just don’t want to deal with it.

What are you wearing today?
Black cap sleeve dress with turquoise necklace, silver bangles, silver rings and black flip flops

What is the last thing you bought?
Velvet royal-navy blue flats from Zara

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She seems very unapologetic of who she is, seems to like the simple things of life, is creative and I think we’d get along if we met in person. And she’s a great photographer! oh and I love her taste in movies.

What’s for dinner?
not sure yet; depends on the mood later

What’s your favorite decade, fashion wise?
I loved the 80’s for the rocker-punk look – oh if I could have lived in NYC then… and of course the 50’s – I LOVE a twinset and pearls.

What are your must-haves for summer?
wine on the roof, wearing flip flops everyday, Saturday morning movies and lots of ice cream

What would you love to be able to afford?
a home in Miami and a home in NYC so I could live 6 months in each city

What is your favorite piece of clothing from your wardrobe?
my lace top spaghetti strap tanks – I have them in black, white and nude and wear them literally under almost everything

What is your dream job?
being a travel photographer (more journalistic style)

What is your favorite magazine?
I read almost every magazine out there! my mood changes with each issue though – I subscribe to Elle, Vogue, Allure, Food & Wine, Cosmo, Filter, Travel & Leisure, NY Magazine, Time Out NY and I’m sure at least 2 more I can’t think of right now

Describe your personal style:
I would like to think polished punk with a beach girl vibe who wears pearls often.

Which Beatle is your favorite?
Let’s say Lennon…

What are you proud of?
I’m really not sure… I guess the life that I have created for myself and the ability to adapt in almost any situation...

Tuesday Tea Party ~ every heartbeat creates a miracle

I love hot tea and drink it almost everyday but today I woke up and the thought of coffee would not escape my mind. So today I am having a cup of coffee and it is oh so good. This week from my yogi tea, the statement above had me thinking…. Last night I was walking home from a photo shoot and decided to continue taking a few more pictures. I think we forget how calming NYC can be right before night completely takes over. And it made me think how everything in the city starts with a heartbeat. One of the reasons I used to love walking through the city at night was to pass through Times Square – even in all the chaos and craziness that it is. The energy that exists in Times Square seems to be tireless and I love being a part of that; however, last night when walking up Broadway I didn’t even feel an ounce of energy. Any readers in NYC feel the same? Maybe its all the recent changes with less car traffic and the more relaxed vibe of being able to just sit there in the middle of 45th & Broadway. Who knows really but I think it has lost some appeal for me… or maybe this means I’m officially a true New Yorker?

Manic Monday

I wanted to share something from one of my favorite artists again - Kurt Halsey. Sometimes it just feels like that kind of day when you are trying to figure things out. The other picture below is just random but I think it goes with the sentiment of this week.

I'm a drinker with writing problems

"There cannot be too much vodka, There can only be not enough vodka"

~ Popular Russian saying

Last Friday I finally checked out the Russian Vodka Room – it is only a couple blocks from my apt but I always seem to think of going elsewhere. They are supposed to have the best happy hour too and they have house made infused vodka. They are that good. It was a bit crowded that night and we only had space for 2 - yet we were 3 – at the bar. We each ordered a different flavor to sip and each tried them all. 2 ounces is $6. So we just had one drink that night to finally check it out but I will certainly go back. Once inside too, you would never know the glowing lights of Times Square were right outside the front door.

Also thinking of other great things Russian - here a few pics of my favorite Russian model, Natalia Vodianova. She seems pretty low key and out of the spotlight other than when she's working.

I love when supermodels take pics of other models and they come out like this.

A few more above from one of my favorite photographers, Mario Testino - she seems to have the cutest little family. Here she is with one of three of her little ones. Vogue, November 2008.

I've got no reason to doubt you baby

Hope you enjoy my music pick of the week!

Last Saturday I went to see O.A.R. at Madison Square Garden and I must say they totally rocked. I would see them 10 more times live if I could. Here a couple snapshots from the night ~ they gave us confetti!

Tuesday Tea Party ~ empty yourself and let the universe fill you

I am sharing one of the little things that makes my day brighter... the title post of this blog (and every Tuesday going forward) is from my hot tea packet. I love Yogi Tea and with each bag there is always a simple statement of wisdom; I think I might actually be drinking the tea for this fun fact but owell - the tea is really good too.

pretty good but not great

Miss me?... Just a little?... I’ve decided I miss (and almost need) my creative outlet that is called my blog and so I’m over my short break and ready to throw my thoughts into the land of lost and found again. Though, I do have a few ideas that I might change up a little over the next week or so. But really this is just a place for my thoughts and I like it that way. It doesn’t necessarily need to have any direction, right? But maybe it will start to have a little more consistency… I do hope you all enjoy my ramblings! Now let’s recap…

Obsessed with September issues even though they aren’t as bible like as usual and I must say I am looking forward to the fall fashion ~ The DSquared 2 collection for MAC is finally out this October ~ saw Julie & Julia and was completely captivated with Meryl Streep as Julia Child, she seemed to be an exceptional woman ~ loving the new Ann Taylor look ~ surprisingly (and I never thought I’d say this) craving fall but only because I’ve discovered it is much easier to feel pulled together with layers and tights and jewels all over ~ everyone must see Spread

"Happy," I muttered, trying to pin the word down. But it is one of those words, like Love, that I have never quite understood. Most people who deal in words don't have much faith in them and I am no exception -- especially the big ones like Happy and Love and Honest and Strong. They are too elusive and far too relative when you compare them to sharp, mean little words like Punk and Cheap and Phony. I feel at home with these, because they're scrawny and easy to pin, but the big ones are tough and it takes either a priest or a fool to use them with any confidence."

Kiss me. Kiss me as if it were the last time.

Lately I have been questioning what are my original thoughts and what is stemmed from other blogs. There are so many ideas and images to be found on the Internet and truly that is where most inspiration comes from now-a-days; still in addition to what we see in the magazines and on the streets - it all equals massive amounts of artistic overload. Having that connection to something else that we relate with or could almost create ourselves but not quite the same way someone else did is inspiring and makes us want to produce something similar through our interpretation. I love reading other people's blogs and experiencing their creativity but I feel I'm losing myself in how much/what I'm putting out there so I have decided I'm going to take a break from blogging... maybe a week, maybe a month but I just need a little time for some new inspiration and figure out what really is mine. Thanks to the few of you who have been reading and I always appreciate your comments!! I'll be back but until then - happy blogging and keep on inspiring your readers. We all need a break sometimes.

Flashback ~ A year passed

This time last year I was walking around the LES and snapped this picture. Just thought I'd share. I love capturing those little moments of happiness when people don't realize. These two dancing around to a little punk music just made me smile.

Party all night ~ Sleep all day

The weekend was filled with wine and whiskey, late night pizza, strawberry milkshakes, wearing my nightie all day and wearing dresses out at night – it was a beautiful weekend!
